Abstract

Two research questions were raised to guide the study. The study adopted the correctional research design. The area of the study was Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The population for the study consisted of 38 information and communication technology unit personnel. The total enumeration sampling technique was used for the study. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The researcher, with the help of research assistants from the institutions, administered the questionnaire to the respondents. The data collected were analysed using Pearson Product-Moment Correlation (PPMC) to answer the research questions. The findings of the study revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between digital technologies (database and website) and the security of students’ records. It was concluded that the use of digital technologies such as databases and websites in the security of students’ records is necessary to safeguard these records from loss or damage. It was recommended, among others, that there should be an increase in the internet penetration and bandwidth to ensure full and uninterrupted website access in the universities.
